When is rehab needed?

Almost 28 million people around the world are battling a substance use disorder. It can affect anyone including a child, a parent, and even a spouse. Recognizing the signs of a drug or alcohol addiction can be vital to saving a loved one’s life.

RehabSpot.com is an information hub to educate people on all aspects of substance-use and the recovery process: from selection of treatment center, to what you can expect during treatment, to entering back into a healthy and fulfilling life. Rehab can benefit people by offering a supportive environment, 24/7 medical assistance and daily therapy/treatments designed to help a person better understand and overcome the reasons behind their addiction.

This page will help loved ones not only be able to distinguish the signs of a possible addiction, but also reach out and make a positive change.

Animal-assisted Therapy

Animal-assisted therapy isn't designed to be a stand-alone therapy. When combined with other treatments for substance use disorders, the therapeutic approach can motivate patients to stay in treatment. Animals can also help therapists and clients resolve mental health problems in a way that isn't possible with other types of therapy alone. - Jaime Acevedo, Outreach Specialist
